Guitar/Bass

Guitar choices are numerous and there is much, much more to a quality instrument than color, shape & price.
We’ve put some basic information together below to help simplify your quest to picking the right guitar.
Q: What is acoustic, electric, or acoustic/electric?
A: Primarily the sound of a guitar is generated by the pluck of the string(s). This string vibration is reproduced in the acoustic guitar through the bridge and body of the instrument. In the electric guitar, the string vibration is produced by electronic pickups and an amp. Acoustic/electric guitars offer the versatility of both instruments.
Q: Which guitar is best to start on?
A: Depending on the intent of the player, any six string guitar will work for beginners. The key is a good quality guitar that has been correctly set up for ease of playing. Acoustic guitars are more easily transportable because you don’t need an amplifier. Electric guitars will be initially easier on your fingers because of lighter strings and pickups producing your sound.
Q: Why do some guitars cost more and some less?
A: Think of it as a recipe for tone and performance! Less expensive guitars will have lower grades of wood in the neck and body. The inexpensive electric guitars quality of the components (pickups, pots, switches & tuners) can dramatically impact the price. Reputable brand name guitars have better craftsmanship in design and detail with higher quality materials to enhance the sound and playability of the instrument. You get what you pay for….so try a guitar before you buy a guitar!
